These are six of the greatest all-rounders across formats in international cricket.

The history of international cricket is filled with legendary all-rounders. While they may not stand out in every game, the impact of an all-rounder is often understood by the sheer weight of their stats.

All-rounders are crucial in balancing a side and provide that advantage to their captains. Most of them start as either a bowling all-rounder or a batting all-rounder and over their careers develop their weaker discipline.

There are only a few all-rounders who have achieved the double of scoring over 6000 runs and also taking more than 600 wickets in their international careers. Let us see them.

Cricketers to take over 600 wickets and score over 6000 runs in international cricket:

1. Shakib Al Hasan – 14730 runs, 712 wickets

Shakib Al Hasan is unarguably Bangladesh’s greatest-ever cricketer. With 14730 runs, he is their third-highest run-scorer in international cricket, and with 712 wickets, their highest wicket-taker.

Shakib made his debut at the international stage in 2006 and quickly became a regular member of the team. He remained a crucial player of Bangladesh across all three formats till the end of his career. He recorded 14 centuries and 25 five-fors.

2. Kapil Dev – 9031 runs, 687 wickets

Hailed as India’s greatest all-rounder, Kapil Dev bowed out with 9031 runs at an average of 27 and 687 wickets at an average of 28. The former India captain notched up nine international centuries and claimed 25 five-wicket hauls.

Kapil led India to their first-ever global title by winning the 1983 World Cup in England.

3. Shaun Pollock – 7386 runs, 829 wickets

Former fast bowler Shaun Pollock took the most wickets for South Africa in international cricket, the most in ODI cricket, and the second-most in test cricket. He snared 829 international wickets (Pollock also played for Africa XI and ICC World XI) at an average of 23.73 with 21 five-fors.

In addition, Pollock was more than a handy lower-order batsman as he scored 7386 runs at an average of 28 with three hundreds.

4. Daniel Vettori – 6989 runs, 705 wickets

Former left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori is New Zealand’s second-highest wicket-taker in international cricket, the highest in ODI cricket, and the third-highest in test cricket.

Vettori, who started out as a bowler only and then developed his batting skills, picked up 705 international wickets, with 22 five-wicket hauls, and scored 6989 runs with six centuries.

5. Ravindra Jadeja – 6653 runs, 600 wickets

Ravindra Jadeja has made a name for himself as arguably the best all-rounder of his generation with consistent match-winning performances with the ball in test and ODIs.

He’s the latest Indian bowler to reach the figure of 600 international wickets, which includes 17 five-wicket hauls. The left-hander has also amassed 6653 runs at an average of 32, including four tons.

6. Wasim Akram – 6615 runs, 916 wickets

The legendary Pakistan fast bowler Wasim Akram is Pakistan’s highest wicket-taker in international cricket with 916 wickets, taken at an average of 23.57 with 31 five-wicket hauls.

Akram’s batting ability often goes unnoticed under his bowling mastery. Akram scored 6615 runs with three centuries, which includes a sensational 257* vs Zimbabwe in 1996.
