List of cricketers to hit consecutive centuries in T20I cricket

Only five cricketers have hit consecutive centuries in T20I cricket.
T20 cricket is known for its fast-paced game where batsmen have to take more risks compared to ODIs. While batsmen are generally judged on their batting average, the shortest format of the game demands a high strike rate and more risk-taking capabilities.
With only 120 legal deliveries at their disposal, players need to play aggressively and risk being inconsistent in pursuit of quick and impactful runs. The dynamic nature of the format makes centuries a rare feat.
Over the years many batsmen have played exceptional T20 knocks at the international level. While several players have managed to score centuries in a single game, replicating it in consecutive games has been a big challenge.
In this article, we will look at the list of cricketers who have hit consecutive centuries in T20I cricket.
Cricketers to hit consecutive centuries in T20I cricket
1. Gustav McKeon (FRA)
The first player to achieve this landmark was France’s Gustav McKeon. McKeon’s consecutive centuries came against Switzerland and Norway respectively in 2022. Gustav registered his first century against Switzerland scoring a brilliant 109 runs off 61 runs.
His second century against Norway came at an even impressive strike rate with him scoring 101 off just 53 balls. McKeon was named Player of the Match against Norway for leading his team to a crucial 11-run win.
2. Rilee Rossouw (SA)
The second batter to register two consecutive centuries in T20I cricket was South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw. The first of Rossouw’s two successive T20I centuries came against India at Indore where the southpaw toyed with the Indian bowling lineup to score 100 off 48 balls.
Rossouw followed his incredible century with another blistering knock against Bangladesh in the group-stage match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 with a score of 109 off 56 balls. He was named Player of the Match for both the knocks.
3. Phil Salt (ENG)
English wicket-keeper Phil Salt created history when he notched up consecutive T20I centuries against West Indies in 2023.
Salt’s maiden T20I ton came in England’s remarkable run chase of 223 runs at St George’s. Salt steered the Three Lions to victory with his monumental knock of 109* off 56 balls.
Salt’s brilliance continued as he followed up his maiden hundred with an even more impressive knock, scoring 119 runs off just 57 balls in the fourth T20I of the series. Phil was named Player of the Match for his historical feat.
4. Sanju Samson (IND)
Criticized for not fulfilling his talent, Sanju Samson’s T20I career finally picked up pace in 2024. Samson’s two consecutive centuries came against Bangladesh and South Africa.
Samson’s maiden T20I hundred against Bangladesh came in Hyderabad, where he stormed his way to 111 off just 47 balls. Samson repeated his heroics in his next T20I outing against South Africa in Durban, scoring 107 runs off 50 balls to guide India to an emphatic 61-run victory.
5. Tilak Varma (SA)
Tilak Varma is the fifth batsman and second Indian to smash two consecutive centuries in T20I cricket. He achieved this feat on the tour of South Africa in 2024.
In Centurion, Varma hit his maiden T20I century, thumping 107* runs off 56 balls. India won the match by 11 runs. In the next match in Johannesburg, Varma was even more imperious, plundering 120* runs off only 47 balls, managing a strike rate of 255! Varma and Samson’s centuries helped India post a giant total of 283.
