Sanju Samson scored 107 runs in 50 balls against South Africa in Durban.
Sanju Samson produced a sensational knock of 107 runs in the first game of three-match T20I series against South Africa.
Opting to field first, South Africa started the game on a positive note, dismissing Abhishek Sharma for the score of just seven runs. India then staged a strong recovery, with Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav building a solid 66-run partnership, followed by a 77-run stand between Samson and Tilak Varma.
Samson’s thunderous knock, which included seven fours and 10 towering sixes, propelled India to an above par total of 202 runs.
Gerald Coetzee was the star of the show for the Proteas, pulling things back with timely strikes. Coetzee finished with the bowling figures of 3/37, picking important wickets of Abhishek Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Rinku Singh.

1. First ever Indian batsman to hit hundreds in two consecutive T20I innings
Sanju Samson made history by becoming the first Indian batsman to register back-to-back centuries in T20Is. Samson smashed 111 runs in his last appearance against Bangladesh in Hyderabad, and followed it up with another sizzling ton in Durban.
With this remarkable feat Samson joined an elite group of cricketers. Until now, only three players—Gustav McKeon, Phil Salt, and Rilee Rossouw—had scored two consecutive T20I centuries.
2. Equaled Rohit Sharma’s record for most sixes in a T20I innings by an Indian
Samson’s 10 sixes in the innings helped him match the record for most sixes in a T20I innings by an Indian, a record previously held by Rohit Sharma.
Rohit had achieved smashed 10 sixes during his 118-run innings against Sri Lanka in Indore in 2017.
3. Fastest century by an Indian batter against South Africa in T20Is
Sanju completed his century in Durban off 47 balls, marking the fastest hundred by an Indian against South Africa in T20Is. Completing his half-century in 27 balls, Samson took just 20 more balls to reach the three-figure mark.
This record was previously held by India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav, who had hit a 55-ball century last year in Johannesburg against the hosts.
