List of cricketers to represent two countries in ICC T20 World Cup
Check out the list of cricketers who have played for two nations in the ICC T20 World Cup.
Representing their country at the highest level is a big achievement for any cricketer. It is a dream for anyone who takes up this sport because only a few players get this opportunity in their careers. But, interestingly, there have been a few cricketers who have played international cricket for two different countries.
Since there is cut-throat competition for places on the national side of a few countries, a player can seek out more opportunities elsewhere and play international cricket for another country.
16 players in ODIs and 17 in tests have played for two countries. Further, 19 players have represented two countries in T20Is and five of them have played in the ICC T20 World Cup for two teams.
In this article, we will talk about this list of cricketers who have played in the ICC T20 World Cup for two different nations.
List of cricketers to represent two countries in the ICC T20 World Cup
1. Roelof Van der Merwe – South Africa & Netherlands
Veteran spinner Roelof Van der Merwe was only the fifth player to play T20Is for two different countries. He made his debut in 2009 for South Africa and played until 2010 for the country of his birth, including in the 2009 T20 World Cup.
In 2015, he joined the Netherlands and played in the T20 World Cup 2022 as a Dutch player. However, he is not part of the current squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 because of his commitments in County Cricket.

Former pacer Dirk Nannes, who was born in Melbourne, also features on this list. He made his T20I debut in 2008 for the Netherlands and played two matches in the 2009 T20 World Cup for them. Nannes is the son of Dutch migrant parents, so he was eligible to play for the Netherlands.
However, later in the same year, he returned to Australia and went on to play in the 2010 T20 World Cup for the country of his birth. In 2010, he played his last T20I.

Later, he switched to New Zealand. In 2021, he played in the T20 World Cup for the Black Caps and is also part of their squad in ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Chapman is the first batter with two half-centuries for two different countries in T20Is.
