A CSK’s overseas player has sustained a serious injury.
Although Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are not among the favourites to reach the Indian Premier League 2026 playoffs, they remain in contention for a top-four finish. The Ruturaj Gaikwad & Co. take the fifth spot in the points table with 12 points.
Out of 11 games in IPL 2026, they have won 6 and lost 5. They have three more games left in the league stage, and if they win all of them, they can qualify for the playoffs. The Men-in-Yellow have delivered an impeccable performance recently, winning their last three games.
They are scheduled to clash with Lucknow Super Giants in their next game on May 15. However, ahead of the clash, CSK have suffered a big blow as one of their crucial member has sustained an injury.
Jamie Overton sustains a thigh injury, returns to the UK
CSK seam all-rounder Jamie Overton has sustained an injury in his right thigh. Moreover, he will return to the United Kingdom (UK) for further assessment of his injury.
“Jamie Overton has a right thigh injury and will be returning to the UK for further assessment and management”, CSK wrote in an official post on Twitter.
Overton delivered an impressive performance in the tournament. He played in 10 matches and clinched 14 wickets at an average of 17.79 and an economy of 8.89. He grabbed a three-wicket haul in the previous game against LSG. His economical spells helped CSK restrict the opposition from reaching big totals.
Overton also scored 136 runs in six innings, including an unbeaten 43-run knock in one game. His ouster will definitely put a burden on other pacers in the upcoming games.
Meanwhile, CSK will play three more games in the league stage. After clashing with LSG on May 15, they will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 18 and Gujarat Titans on May 21.
