Dewald Brevis has missed CSK’s first three games in IPL 2026.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are playing their third game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Sunday, April 5. The encounter is underway at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Notably, Dewald Brevis is not part of CSK’s playing XI against RCB. The South African batter was also absent from the last two games as he is battling a side strain, which he sustained just ahead of the tournament.

The South African batter gave a brilliant performance last season after joining the team midway as a replacement player. He scored 225 runs in six games at a strike rate of 180, which also included two half-centuries.

Following his impressive batting show, CSK retained him in their squad for IPL 2026 for INR 2.20 crore. He was recently seen in team practice sessions; however, he is yet to play his first game in the tournament.

During the RCB vs CSK match, CSK Head Coach Stephen Fleming was asked about Brevis’ return to the playing XI. Fleming said that he is expected to play in the next game against Delhi Capitals (DC). “Hope Brevis comes back in the next game,” he said.

The Ruturaj Gaikwad & Co. will clash with DC on April 11 at Chepauk Stadium, which will be their fourth game in the tournament. They have witnessed a poor start to the tournament so far, losing the first two games.

The five-time champions lost to Rajasthan Royals by eight wickets in their opening game. They were bowled out for just 127 runs in the first innings, suffering a big batting collapse.

Later, they lost to Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their second game by five wickets despite having the home advantage. They posted a decent total of 209 runs in the first innings, but could not defend their total.

What injury is Dewald Brevis suffering from?

Brevis is suffering from a side strain.

Who is leading CSK in IPL 2026?

Ruturaj Gaikwad is the captain of CSK in the tournament.
