Fleming won five Indian Premier League (IPL) titles with CSK, and he was the only coach to serve a single franchise for 16 seasons. However, the team failed to make the playoffs in three consecutive seasons, and the franchise then decided to part ways with him.

Now, the CSK are looking for another coach who can serve the team in their best interests. According to many sources, MS Dhoni wanted an Indian coach to take charge of the team. However, the team owners also looked at an overseas candidate.

Any decision by the franchise management is always taken after discussions with their franchise superstar, Dhoni. The former captain remains one of the most intelligent people in the sport, and his views may decide the next successor to Stephen Fleming.

CSK management set to consult MS Dhoni before deciding on Stephen Fleming’s successor

According to Cricbuzz, Dhoni is set to return from the US this month to meet the franchise management and take a call on the next head coach of the franchise. Sources mentioned that the franchise has zeroed in on an overseas candidate for the role. However, that candidate is in talks with other franchises as well.

Dhoni, who has captained this franchise for more than a decade and won five titles with franchise, will decide whether that candidate is good for the franchise or not.

CSK last won the trophy in 2023 under Dhoni and Stephen Fleming as head coach. However, since then, they have had only disappointing seasons, failing to make it into the playoffs for three consecutive years.

The franchise now needs a fresh mind to lead the management and make some much-needed decisions to make the team great again and win the sixth title for the team.
