MS Dhoni captained CSK in IPL 2025 after Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the tournament due to injury.
In what has been the latest development, as per the reports in Cricbuzz, it is learned that MS Dhoni is all set to play the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The keeper-batter has confirmed his availability to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), saying that he will play next season.
MS Dhoni, who has been one of the finest players in the IPL, will be there once again, gracing the league in 2026. The keeper-batter captained CSK last year in the absence of injured Ruturaj Gaikwad and is expected to be there as a player next year.
Since the last few years, MS Dhoni’s future in the league has been a big talking point. With him being 44 already, it wasn’t expected that he would feature in another season. But having confirmed his availability, he would be keen to give his fans something to cheer about once again.
“MS has told us that he will be available for the next season” – CSK CEO

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan, while talking to Cricbuzz, said that: “MS has told us that he will be available for the next season.”
His presence would be key for the side as they eye making a comeback after a lean last few seasons in the league.
This possibly could be the last season for MS Dhoni in the league. The former CSK skipper would want to end on a high. He has been one of the major reasons behind the success of the franchise in the league, having led the team to five titles under his leadership.
So far, he has featured in 248 matches for CSK, scoring 4,865 runs. His five title wins came in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023. He would want to add another title to his cabinet and sign off from the league on a high note.
With MS Dhoni being in the fag end of his career, CSK would be keeping a keen eye on the replacement for him at the mini auction. The IPL 2026 mini auction is set to take place next month and some of the big players are set to go under the hammer.
