CSK bids farewell to Ambati Rayudu with an emotional send-off: A fairytale ending for a legendary player
Ambati Rayudu puts an end to his glorious 13-year-long Indian Premier League career.
Chennai Super Kings had a fairytale ending to their campaign in the IPL 2023. Ravindra Jadeja hitting 10 runs in the last two balls powered Chennai to their 5th IPL title. CSK equaled Mumbai Indians’ record of winning the most number of titles in the Indian Premier League. This was also a special game for Ambati Rayudu who said goodbye to his 13-year-long IPL career on a winning note. While chasing a big total against Gujarat Titans, Rayudu also contributed with his 8-ball cameo. He smashed a four and 2 sixes in 3 consecutive deliveries to Mohit Sharma to give CSK a chance when the Required rate was above 14.
Rayudu says, ‘It’s a fairytale ending’
After the game, Rayudu got emotional and said it was a fairytale ending in his career. Talking to his teammate Devon Conway in a video chat, He said, “It’s a fairytale end, Can’t describe, when Jaddu hit the ball for 4, I can’t ask for more and it’s a better ending for my career”. Ambati Rayudu joined Chennai Super Kings in the year 2018. Talking about his time in CSK camp he said, “It’s an unbelievable franchise, nothing like Chennai Super Kings… It was a total team effort while chasing 170 plus”. Chennai Super King defeated Gujarat Titans in the IPL Final by 5 wickets.
Ambati Rayudu made his Indian Premier League debut in 2010 with Mumbai Indians. Rayudu, being an experienced campaigner in the Indian domestic circuit, used the opportunity well enough and he earned an Indian call-up with his consistent performance. Later in the Mega Auction 2018, Chennai Super Kings snatched him on their side. Rayudu in his 13-year-long IPL career has played 203 games and has scored 4348 runs. He also has a century under his name in this tournament. Rayudu is among one of the most successful batters in the league.
