Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made a dismal start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, losing three games in a row. The Ruturaj Gaikwad & Co. struggled with their teamwork at the start but found rhythm as the tournament progressed.
The Men-in-Yellow have won six games and lost five out of 11 so far. With 12 points, they take the fifth spot in the points table and are active in the race to the playoffs. CSK have three more games left in the tournament and if they win all of them, they can finish in the top four positions in the points table.
CSK suffered setbacks by losing a few crucial players due to injuries in IPL 2026. Pacer Khaleel Ahmed, Ayush Mhatre, and Ramakrishna Ghosh are three CSK players who played in the tournament but were ruled out due to injuries.
Ghosh featured in just one game against Mumbai Indians (MI), where he got injured and was later ruled out of the tournament. The franchise has now named a replacement for him for the rest of the season.
CSK add Macneil Hadley Noronha as a replacement for Ramakrishna Ghosh
According to reports in Times of India, CSK have added Karnataka’s Macneil Hadley Noronha as a replacement for Ramakrishna Ghosh.
Noronha is a 24-year-old batting all-rounder, who bats right-handed and bowls right-arm offbreak. He has played three T20s for Karnataka. He has impressed with his performance in the CK Nayudu Trophy. Noronha has never played in the IPL and will make his debut in the 2026 edition.
Meanwhile, Chennai have shown an impressive form recently by winning their last three games by big margins. They will next clash with Lucknow Super Giants on May 15, followed by matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans on May 18 and 21 respectively.
