Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have broken their silence on reports of releasing five big players from their squad ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini-auction. The Men In Yellow shared a hilarious post on X (formerly Twitter) to refute the rumours.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side are expected to part ways with key players in Sam Curran, Deepak Hooda, Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tripathi, and Devon Conway ahead of IPL 2026 auction. The reports became a talk of the town on social media among fans.
The report also mentioned that the retirement of former spinner Ravichandran Ashwin from IPL has freed up Rs. 9.75 crore in CSK’s purse for IPL 2026 mini-auction. Hence, they are looking forward to increasing their purse by parting ways with these big names.
CSK breaks silence on releasing five players ahead of IPL 2026 auction

After the rumours went viral, CSK changed their bio on X that read,: “Nothing’s official till you see it here.” Before updating their bio, they shared a post, “Don’t worry, we’ve updated the bio.”
Meanwhile, IPL 2026 mini-auction is expected to take place in December. The final retention list by the franchises has to be submitted by November 15. CSK are expected to make significant changes in their squad after witnessing a dismal form in the previous season.
The Men In Yellow won just four games and lost 10 matches out of 14 games during IPL 2025. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the tournament after five games due to an elbow injury. Later, MS Dhoni took the leadership of the side, however, he failed to lead the team into the playoffs, failing to do that for the second time in a row.
