Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to commence their journey in the Indian Premier League 2026 with the clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR). The encounter will take place on March 30 (Monday) at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
Ruturaj Gaikwad will captain CSK in IPL 2026. Ahead of the tournament, the Men-in-Yellow have already suffered a few blows.
To begin with, pacer Nathan Ellis has been ruled out due to an injury and replaced by Spencer Johnson. However, the latter will miss the initial phase and is expected to join the squad in mid- April. Moreover, MS Dhoni and Dewald Brevis will also miss a few matches due to injury.
Dhoni suffered a calf strain in the pre-season training and will need about two weeks for his recovering. Brevis is battling a side strain and is expected to be out for two or three matches.
CSK release anthem song ahead of opening clash

Ahead of their opening game against RR on Monday, CSK released their new anthem song for IPL 2026. They shared the video on their official X (formerly Twitter) account. In the anthem, they promoted the famous whistle-podu (blow the whistle) campaign among fans.

Meanwhile, CSK will aim for a big comeback in IPL 2026. Last season, they were the worst performers. Winning just four games and losing 10 out of 14, they finished in the last spot in the points table with four points.
Due to an elbow injury, Gaikwad was ruled out after five games and MS Dhoni captained the side in the remaining matches. CSK won the title in the 2023 edition but failed to make it to the playoffs in the last two seasons.
