CSK interested in INR 13 crore SRH all-rounder; Khaleel Ahmed put up for trade - Reports

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are reportedly in talks with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for English all-rounder.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have won the Indian Premier League (IPL) five times (2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, 2023). However, the last few seasons didn’t go well for them as they had planned.
CSK have failed to make it to the playoffs in the last three editions and are desperate to lift their sixth title. They made a massive trade last season, acquiring Sanju Samson from Rajasthan Royals in place of Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.
And now, they are on course of another big trade ahead of the IPL 2027 auction. As reported by Cricbuzz, CSK are in talks with Sunrisers Hyderabad to trade in star English all-rounder Liam Livingstone.
The 33-year-old joined SRH last season for a price of INR 13 crore. He was part of the IPL winning Royal Challengers squad in 2024. However, he didn’t get many games with SRH and featured in two matches, scoring only 15 runs.

As per reports, one more franchise has shown interest in having Livingstone for the upcoming season. However, the discussion is at its initial stage. SRH are still unsure. The report suggests that CSK are willing to trade out left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed to have the all-rounder.
A source said:
“The franchises are certainly discussing Livingstone and another player apart from Khaleel in CSK. Multiple players and multiple franchises are involved in the trade discussions, not just two, and nothing has been finalized.”
The last date to submit the retention list is on Tuesday, November 17, 2026. The trade window will close around one week before the auction, while the mini-auction will be held in Goa on December 16.
Since Jadeja’s trade to RR, CSK are in need of a match-winning spin all-rounder. That is what Livingstone brings to the table. However, the 33-year-old haven’t enjoyed much success in the IPL.
In 51 IPL matches, Livingstone has scored 1066 runs at an average of 25.38 and taken only 13 wickets. However, his experience of playing international cricket and at the franchise level is immense.
When will the IPL 2027 auction take place?
The IPL 2027 mini auction is scheduled to take place on December 16 in Goa.
