CSK star involved as match-fixing hits IPL again; Know here

A cricketer from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has been named in the match-fixing.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is the grandest cricket league in the world. However, with its large stature, it has also been a hub of larger controversies. One of the most infamous cases of match-fixing in the tournament came to light in 2013, when S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila, Ankeet Chavan, Gurunath Meiyappan, and Raj Kundra came under the radar.
While the three cricketers, Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila, and Ankeet Chavan, received lifetime bans, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) were suspended for 2 years.
Just a year before that, former domestic players, namely. TP Sudhindra, Shalabh Srivastava, Mohnish Mishra, Amit Yadav, and Abhinav Bali alleged irregularities involving money and spot-fixing. All five of them faced different bans from the BCCI.
Nevertheless, the competition has come under fire for match-fixing yet again. A hidden-camera investigation by Tehelka’s Special Investigation Team has reported an alleged playing XI leak network operating at the core of the IPL.
Who is involved in match-fixing in the IPL?

The player who reportedly provided the information has not been named in the Tehelka report. However, cricket journalist Pratyush Halder has identified the cricketer on X (formerly Twitter) as Vansh Bedi. He was bought by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the 2025 IPL edition; however, due to an injury, he was replaced by Urvil Patel for the rest of the season.
According to reports, Vansh Bedi used to provide the Super Kings’ playing XI information to Rachit Bhatia, who served as a middleman, before the toss. The price for each game was INR 60 lakh, and the information was later forwarded to London-based bookmakers via Snapchat.
Bhatia told a Tehelka undercover reporter:
“I fixed five matches during the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season by passing inside information about the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to bookies in London via Snapchat. I earned Rs 60 lakh per match, totalling Rs 3 crore for those five matches.”
“I also engaged in spot-fixing during the 2018-19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a tournament I played in. I deliberately bowled two wide balls, receiving Rs 8 lakh per ball from the bookies, making a total of Rs 16 lakh.”
They reportedly operated under a complex system in which they addressed specific players with specific emojis. And only cash payments were being made.
