Axar Patel dismissed Mohammad Rizwan for 46 runs.

Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan played a laborious innings of 46 runs off 77 balls against India and was dismissed by left-arm spinner Axar Patel.

India took control of the proceedings with the ball after Rizwan won the toss and elected to bat first on Sunday in Dubai.

Once Hardik Pandya dismissed opener Babar Azam in the ninth over, India pounced on Pakistan, as their batsmen went into a shell.

Rizwan and Saud Shakeel formed a third-wicket partnership of 104 runs off 144 balls. While Shakeel upped his ante, Rizwan was dismissed trying to smack Axar for a boundary.

Having hit only three fours in 76 balls, Rizwan skipped down the pitch and aimed for a big hit against Axar but got beaten in the flight and missed the ball. The ball hit the middle pole before Rizwan looked back at the mess of the stumps.

India added more pressure on Pakistan after Rizwan’s wicket. Shakeel pulled Hardik Pandya’s short ball straight to deep square leg before Ravindra Jadeja knocked over Tayyab Tahir, leaving Pakistan in trouble at 167/5 after 37 overs. Earlier, Axar had also made a brilliant direct-hit run out of Imam-ul-Haq.
