Curtis Campher had taken four wickets in four balls for Ireland in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

Ireland Cricket Team all-rounder Curtis Campher made history on Thursday, July 10, at the Inter-Provincial T20 Trophy with his incredible performance.

During a match between Munster Reds against North West Warriors in the Cricket Ireland Inter-Provincial T20 Trophy, which took place at the Pembroke Cricket Club in Sandymount, Dublin, Curtis Campher became the first player in professional cricket history to take five wickets in five balls.

Talking about the match, Munster Reds won the toss and decided to bat first. They displayed an astounding 188 on the board. With a hit of 44 in just 24 balls, Campher was their leading batsman. In addition, the 26-year-old leads their team as captain.

With the Warriors reeling at 78/5 after 11 overs, Campher brought himself back to bowl his second over of the match. He turned the game firmly in Munsters’ favour by striking twice on the last two balls, dismissing Jared Wilson and Graham Hume for ducks.

Returning in the 13th over, the Munsters’ skipper completed his hat-trick with the very first delivery by removing Andy McBrine for 29. Campher wasn’t done yet — he claimed a fourth consecutive wicket by sending Robie Miler back for a golden duck. He wrapped up the innings soon after, with Josh Wilson also falling for zero, as the Warriors were bundled out for just 88, handing Munsters a thumping 100-run victory.

In men’s T20 cricket at any level, this was the first time a bowler had ever taken five wickets in as many deliveries, making Campher a legend. This has never occurred in a domestic, international, or franchise league game in the game’s shortest format.

Campher won Player of the Match after finishing with numbers of 5/16 in 2.2 overs.

The Irish great, who accomplished the record in a 2021 T20 World Cup encounter against the Netherlands in Abu Dhabi, is one of only six bowlers in history to take four wickets in four deliveries in a T20I competition.
