UP Warriorz signed England’s Danielle Wyatt at the WPL 2024 Auction.

The auction for the second edition of the Women’s Premier League is live in Mumbai. WPL 2024 auction has reached its end, and all five teams have made sure that they have made some good signings for the upcoming auction. Some big deals were made, and there were some unexpected players that became the centre of attraction among WPL franchises.

India’s uncapped star Vrinda Dinesh got a deal worth INR 1.3 crore from UP Warriorz. Warriorz came into the auction with the highest purse value and most slots to fill, and they were pretty active during the auction procedure. They made some other notable picks as well. One of them was the signing of English batter Danielle Wyatt.

Notably, Danielle Wyatt is part of England’s women’s team, which is playing a three-match T20I series against India. In the first game, she played a brilliant innings of 75 off 47 balls, with 8 fours and 2 sixes. She was one of the reasons that England won the first game. That performance has certainly boosted her chances at the auction, and it paid off finally.

However, she was also part of the auction for the inaugural edition of WPL, but went unsold, which was a heartbreaking moment for her. After going unsold at the inaugural WPL auction, she tweeted, “Dreamt of playing in the WPL. Heartbroken 💔 Congrats to all who got picked up. India is a wonderful place to play cricket.”

However, Danielle Wyatt got a deal in the WPL 2024 auction. She got bought by Up Warriorz for her base price of 30 Lakhs. After getting a deal at WPL 2024 auction, She expressed her happiness on social media and wrote on twitter (Now X), “Cannot wait for this.”

It was a steal of a deal for the franchise, getting a player of Danielle Wyatt’s calibre at a low price. She has played 150 in women’s T20I and scored 2602 with 2 hundreds and 13 half-centuries. She has also taken 46 wickets with the ball.
