David Warner managed to score eight runs before chopping onto his stumps.
Delhi Capitalsâ (DC) opener David Warner had a disappointing night during the match No. 26 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on April 12. The veteran opener was bowled in an âunluckiest wayâ by young pacer Yash Thakur.
Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, the hosts recovered from being 96/7 at one stage to 167/7 in 20 overs courtesy an unbeaten half-century (55) from Ayush Badoni and a cameo from Arshad Khan (20*)
Warner dismissed on eight in an unlucky manner
While chasing 168, DC opener Prithvi Shaw and Warner scored 20 runs in first three overs. Then in the fourth over, Shaw lost his partner Warner in an unlucky way when Yash Thakur came into the attack.
In the third ball of the over, Warner shuffled across the off stump and was trying to play a lap shot over the wicket-keeperâs head. But Thakur delivered the ball towards the body as Warner got cramped for room. The ball then got struck on the back thigh. Then, the ball lobbed up in the air and spun back onto the stumps.
Soon after ball hitting the stumps, Warner was left heartbroken, as it was one of the unluckiest dismissals in the match. The veteran opener went back to the hut after scoring eight runs.
