Anrich Nortje has picked 7 wickets in 8 games in IPL 2023 for Delhi Capitals.

Delhi Capitals (DC) speedster Anrich Nortje will miss his side's next IPL 2023 fixture against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Delhi on Saturday, May 6, due to a family emergency, the franchise confirmed on May 6, 2023.

The Capitals will be going for their fourth victory in the 50th match of the IPL 2023 and their fourth in the previous five games in the tournament.

David Warner and co. will be looking to gain momentum at the right time and move up the ladder after a dismal start to the tournament that saw them suffer five straight losses.

In contrast, RCB has won five of its nine games thus far, and a victory will move them into the top half of the standings. They will be motivated by the Challengers' 23-run victory the last time these two teams met at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Anrich Nortje flies home due to family emergency

Anrich Nortje had returned home to South Africa on the eve of their match, according to an official statement issued by DC on their social media accounts. He won't be available for the game against RCB at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, according to the statement released by Delhi Capitals.

The result is a big setback for the bottom-placed Capitals, who must win nearly all of their remaining games to maintain their playoff aspirations.

The statement released by the franchise reads: "Owing to a personal emergency, Delhi Capitals fast bowler Anrich Nortje had to leave for South Africa late on Friday night. He will be unavailable for this evening’s game against Royal Challengers Bangalore."

Ishant Sharma and Khaleel Ahmed, who were instrumental in DC's most recent triumph over the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad, are in good form, which will please DC.

Both Bangladesh's Mustafizur Rahman and Nortje's native Lungi Ngidi are on the substitutes' list, so one of them might take the speedster's place in the starting lineup for tonight's game.
