Deepti Sharma was bought by UP Warriorz for INR 3.2 crore at WPL 2026 mega auction.
Indian Women Cricket Team all-rounder Deepti Sharma was ecstatic to join her former team UP Warriorz after the franchise shelled out a massive amount for her in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 mega auction. After being picked by the team, she said she was delighted to join the team again.
In the auction, Sharma was part of the marquee list, which had several international and Indian players. She had a base price of INR 50 lakh in the auction, which took place on November 27 (Thursday) in Delhi.
Warriorz spent INR 3.20 crore to buy her at the auction. Delhi Capitals (DC) were interested in picking her and raised their bid till INR 3.20 crore. However, UPW used the Right to Match card to eventually acquire her in their squad by matching the price.
I’m excited to represent UP Warriorz again: Deepti Sharma

While speaking to Jio Hotstar after joining Warriorz, Deepti said she was happy that the franchise bought her back and excited to represent them once again. She also added that the management has given her incredible support in the past seasons.
“I’m from Uttar Pradesh and have strong ties with UP Warriorz. The management has always been excellent and supportive. The auction was thrilling from the start, and I’m delighted that the UP Warriorz bought me back. I’m excited to represent them again,” she said as quoted by IANS.
“The atmosphere has been great right from the start. I’m feeling really positive seeing new players from different teams join UP Warriorz. Having played with many of them before creates a comfortable vibe. The management remains incredibly supportive, and as I mentioned earlier, the changes I made to my batting two years ago were transformative for me,” she added.
Speaking about the WPL, she said that the tournament has played a massive role in her development.
“The WPL has played a massive role in my development. The year I won MVP, and even prior to that, the intense practice on expanding my batting shots paid off tremendously. That season helped me mature significantly as a batter, teaching me how to elevate my strike-rate strategically by adapting my game plan. For me, that’s been WPL’s biggest contribution,” she further added.
Notably, Sharma was named as captain by UP Warriorz in WPL 2025 after Alyssa Healy was ruled out due to injury. However, she could not take the team to the playoffs. With just three wins and five losses across eight games, the franchise finished at the last spot in the points table.
Ahead of WPL 2026 auction, Warriorz retained only Shweta Sehrawat in their squad for INR 50 lakh. In the auction, they bought 17 players, with Shikha Pandey, Meg Lanning, Phoebe Litchfield and Asha Shobhna being a few prominent names.
