Sourav Ganguly has been appointed as the head coach of Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2027.
Delhi Capitals (DC) are one of the few teams who are yet to win the championship in the Indian Premier League (IPL). DC have been part of the league since the beginning and came close to lifting the title in 2020 but failed to win the final.
But since 2022, DC have failed to make it to the playoffs in the last five seasons. They finished the last edition in sixth place after winning seven out of 14 matches. But now, the franchise is very active and has made some notable changes to their squad and coaching setup.
The trade of Rishabh Pant from Lucknow Super Giants was the biggest news ahead of the IPL 2027 auction. With KL Rahul and current captain Axar Patel in the squad, it will be interesting to watch who will lead the team in the upcoming season. Meanwhile, the franchise has made a big move and appointed former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly as the head coach of the team.

The franchise has retained most of their core members of the coaching and support staff ahead of the upcoming edition. Ganguly’s inclusion as the head coach has made headlines for the JSW and GMR co-owned franchise.
Notably, Ganguly has been with the franchise for different roles in the IPL and SA20. However, this is the first time that he will work as the official head coach of the team. He will replace Hemang Badani as head coach.
Apart from Ganguly, the appointment of Yuvraj Singh as batting coach also was a big decision by the franchise. Yuvraj is new to the coaching role in the IPL, but he has mentored Indian superstars like Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma. Hence, he will be valuable as the batting coach.
Former Sri Lankan speedster Chaminda Vaas is all set to join the franchise as the bowling coach. He has served as bowling coach for Sri Lanka and New Zealand in the past and comes with a lot of experience. Meanwhile, Amit Mishra, who is the only bowler with three hat-tricks in the IPL will be the spin bowling coach.
