David Warner-led Delhi Capitals lost 5th match in a row in IPL 2023.

After facing two back to back losses in the IPL 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore have made a roaring comeback. RCB defeated Delhi Capitals by a convincing margin of 23 runs. This is Delhi Capitals' fifth consecutive loss in the IPL 2023. They have been outclassed by every team they have faced. Delhi’s batting has been poor in this season of the Indian Premier League. Batters have failed to take up the responsibility for earning two important points in their entire campaign so far. After winning the toss Delhi invited RCB to bat first.

Taking advantage of the fresh wicket, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis started the innings nicely with 42 runs opening partnership. After this, DC bowlers did try to contain the batters. Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav with his spell of 1/23 in 4 overs troubled RCB batters. Kuldeep’s spell helped DC pull back to restrict Bangalore to 174 runs.

Delhi Capitals' batters fail to put partnerships

RCB gave a target of 175 runs to Delhi Capitals. DC once again succumbed to the pressure and lost 3 wickets in just 3 overs. Delhi were 4 down in the Power play including their in-form captain David Warner. Three of Delhi’s top order batters, Prithvi Shaw (0), Mitchell Marsh (0) Yash Dhull (1) could contribute to just a single run in the scorecard. David Warner was not pleased with the batting performance,

Captain Warner in his strong words said, “I had said at the toss that we had to do both disciplines very well and unfortunately we did it again tonight where we lost too many early wickets… it should have been an easy task but unfortunately we didn’t come up trumps”.  Delhi lost 5 out of their 5 games. Warner was hopeful that teams have made comebacks in the past and that they can be the second team to do that.

Captain Faf happy with the bowlers

After two back to back losses, RCB Captain Faf du Plessis looked pleased with the team's performance. He said, “We needed that confidence back in the group, especially the bowling group. Defending a total at M. Chinnaswamy is not always easy so very proud of them”. RCB’s pace attack bowled brilliantly. Debutant Vijaykumar Vyshak picked up 3 wickets in his 4 overs, giving away only 20 runs. Leading the pace attack, Mohammed Siraj picked up 2 wickets and gave only 23 runs in his quota of 4 overs.

Virat Kohli was awarded Player of the Match for his half century. He scored 50 runs in 34 balls. Virat was not pleased with the way he got out. Showing his disappointment, Virat Kohli said, “I was quite disappointed that I got out to a full toss, I have been playing really well”
