Delhi Capitals name Kamlesh Nagarkoti's replacement for remainder of the IPL 2023

Delhi Capitals’ fast bowler Kamlesh Nagarkoti has been ruled out of the IPL 2023 with a lower back stress fracture.

Struggling in the IPL 2023, Delhi Capitals have picked their injured pacer Kamlesh Nagarkoti’s replacement. Uttar Pradesh star batter Priyam Garg will be joining Delhi Capitals. Priyam Garg went unsold in the IPL Auction 2023. Delhi Capitals management were looking at two options to replace Nagarkoti. They wanted to have an extra option in their struggling batting unit, so they approached Abhimanyu Eashwaran and Priyam Garg. Garg was picked as the final choice for his base price of 20 lakh rupees. Priyam Garg had played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League till the last season.

Delhi wants to strengthen their batting

Former Indian Under-19 captain Priyam Garg will provide Delhi Capitals a stability option in the middle order. Garg played few games for Hyderabad and had done decently for his previous franchise. Delhi Capitals are struggling to score in this season. Apart from David Warner, no other batsman had managed to play a big inning for the team. Delhi Capitals are currently languishing at the bottom of the table with only 2 points in the 6 games they played. They had a tough time chasing a modest 128 against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Delhi Capitals have considered Priyam Garg because of his IPL exposure in the last few seasons. He was with the Sunrisers Hyderabad for three seasons, from 2020 to 2022. Garg has played 21 games in patches for SRH and scored 251 runs with an average of 15.69. Garg had a fiery season with the bat for his home state Uttar Pradesh. In his T20 career, Garg has played 44 games and has scored 601 runs with an average of 17.67.

Delhi Capitals after having lost 5 games consecutively somehow managed to defeat Kolkata Knight Riders in a 129 run chase. Delhi managed to win the game in the last over and lost 6 wickets in the chase. Delhi Capitals will be taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next game at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Monday night.
