The Women’s Premier League (WPL) is set to return for its fifth season in 2027, with the tournament scheduled to take place from January 14 to February 7. The five franchises have now completed their retention process ahead of the upcoming auction.
Delhi Capitals (DC) have been one of the most consistent teams in WPL history. The franchise has reached the final in all four editions but are still waiting to win their first title.
Ahead of the new season, Delhi Capitals have decided to keep a strong core from their previous squad. Captain Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Laura Wolvaardt, Annabel Sutherland and Marizanne Kapp are among the key players retained.
The WPL 2027 auction will take place on October 28 at the Grand Hyatt in Kochi. Delhi Capitals will now look to make further changes to their squad during the auction.

Jemimah Rodrigues will continue to lead the team, while Shafali Verma remains another important Indian player in the squad.
The overseas group includes Laura Wolvaardt, Annabel Sutherland, Chinelle Henry, Lucy Hamilton and Marizanne Kapp.

DC have released six players ahead of the auction. The list includes experienced names such as Sneh Rana, Lizelle Lee and Alana King.
Taniyaa Bhatia, Pragati Singh and Eddla Srujana are the other players released by the franchise. These players will now enter the auction pool and can be picked by any of the five WPL teams on October 28.
