Delhi Capitals defeated Punjab Kings in the 55th match of IPL 2026.
Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by three wickets in the 55th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on May 11. The close-fought clash took place at Himachal Pradesh Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
After being asked to bat first, the Shreyas Iyer & Co. piled up 210/5 in the first innings. Opener Priyansh Arya (56) and captain Shreyas Iyer (59*) hammered half-centuries, while Cooper Connolly added 38 runs to take the scoreboard to a respectable total.
In the chase, DC lost both openers KL Rahul and Abishek Porel for single digits. Sahil Parakh and Tristan Stubbs also failed to go big as Dc were left reeling at 74 for four. Axar Patel (56) hammered a fifty but lost his wicket at a crucial moment. David Miller (51) also slammed a half-century and kept the winning hopes alive.
After his dismissal, Ashutosh Sharma (24) and Madhav Tiwari (18*) helped the team to win the game by three wickets.
Delhi Capitals qualification scenario after victory over PBKS
After victory over Punjab Kings, DC are still active in the race for the playoffs. They need to win their next two games in the league stage to be able to finish in the top four. This will take them to 14 points, which might take them through.
Moreover, the results of other teams should also be in their favour. Hence, they have a slim chance to book a berth in the playoffs.
The Axar Patel & Co. are placed in the seventh spot in the points table with 10 points. Out of 12 matches, they have won five games and lost seven. Their last two matches are against the Rajasthan Royals on May 17 and the Kolkata Knight Riders on May 24.
