The Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper batsman has landed in legal trouble.
Delhi Capitals’ star wicket-keeper Abhishek Porel is making headlines for the wrong reasons. The 22-year-old, who is a part of DC in the Indian Premier League, has been accused of having a physical relationship with a woman in the name of marriage.
This news has spread like wildfire, and an FIR has been registered against him at Magra Police Station in the Hooghly district of West Bengal. Porel, who has shown immense talent at the domestic level, is considered an upcoming star in Indian cricket.
He represents Bengal at the domestic level and is a key member of the team. In the IPL, he made his debut in 2023 and has been part of DC since then. Porel has shown good growth in recent seasons and is becoming a consistent face in the IPL.
However, the allegations against him have drawn significant attention in the cricketing world. Porel has denied all the allegations, describing them as a false attempt to tarnish his reputation.

Born on October 17, 2002, Abhishek Porel came into the limelight after an impressive season with the Delhi Capitals in 2024. He ended up with 327 runs in 14 innings at an average of 32.70 and a strike rate of 159.51. He did not have a great IPL 2025, finishing with 301 runs.
However, the franchise retained him for ₹4 crore in 2026. Now, the allegations against him could harm his cricket career. Though he has denied all such charges, if the allegations are true, he can be in big trouble.
According to reports, a woman from Karnataka, who is a medical student, has filed the complaint against Porel. The report claims that the woman and Porel had been in a relationship for three years and were planning to get married.
She has stated that problems between them began about a year ago. It has been learnt that the case had reached the police station earlier as well, but no complaint was registered. The allegations are for rape or physical relationships in the name of marriage, assault and criminal intimidation.
As of now, the matter is under investigation, and no official statement has been released. On the other hand, Porel has shared his side of the story during a phone call with local media. He claimed that such allegations are made because he has been doing pretty well on the cricket field.
