Dewald Brevis played all three T20Is against Pakistan.
Due to a low-grade shoulder muscle issue, Dewald Brevis will not play in South Africa‘s three-match ODI series against Pakistan, which begins on Tuesday. He hurt himself on Saturday in Lahore during the tour’s third Twenty20 International.
In the T20I series, Brevis had a lackluster performance, scoring just 55 runs in the three games with scores of 9, 25, and 21. Proteas only played well in the opening match of the T20I series, which they won by 55 runs.
Brevis, who has scored 110 runs in six games with a top of 49, hasn’t had a great start to his ODI career either.
The hosts won the three-match T20I series 2-1, but South Africa and Pakistan drew the test series 1-1. Faisalabad, which last hosted men’s international cricket in 2008, will host the ODI portion of the visit.
Dewald Brevis to miss the rest ODI series; no replacement named yet

Brevis’ replacement has not yet been announced by South Africa. Before South Africa’s journey to India later this month, which includes two tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is, the 22-year-old hitter will be receiving rehabilitation while staying with the team in Pakistan.
“Dewald Brevis has been ruled out of the three-match One-Day International series against Pakistan due to a low-grade shoulder muscle strain. He sustained the shoulder injury during the third T20 International at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday.
Brevis will undergo rehabilitation with the Proteas Men’s medical team in Pakistan in preparation for the upcoming Test tour of India. His replacement for the ODI series will be announced in due course,” Cricket South Africa posted on X.
South Africa’s ODI team is further diminished by Brevis’ injury. Injuries to quicks Kwena Maphaka and Anrich Nortje have reduced their team, despite their decision to rest most of their all-format players, including Aiden Markram and Kagiso Rabada, for the tour’s limited-overs leg.
South Africa’s updated squad for Pakistan ODIs: Matthew Breetzke (captain), Ottnierl Baartman, Corbin Bosch, Nandre Burger, Quinton de Kock, Tony de Zorzi, Donovan Ferreira, Bjorn Fortuin, George Linde, Kwena Maphaka, Lungi Ngidi, Nqaba Peter, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, and Sinethemba Qeshile.
