Dhawal Kulkarni had made his Ranji Trophy debut in 2009.

Dhawal Kulkarni ended his First-Class (FC) cricket career on a high as he picked the final wicket of Vidarbha to fall, giving his team Mumbai the win in the final of the Ranji Trophy 2023-24, which awarded them their 42nd title as well.

35-year-old Dhawal Kulkarni had a fairytale finish to his FC cricket career as the Mumbai pacer knocked off Umesh Yadavā€™s off-stump, picking up the last wicket in Mumbaiā€™s win over Vidarbha in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 final.

Kulkarni finished his FC cricket career with an impressive 281 wickets in 95 matches. Dhawal, who began his FC cricket career in 2008, was a guiding light for Mumbaiā€™s pace attack, finishing with 15 five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket haul.

Dhawal took four wickets in the final, including a three-wicket burst in the first innings that destroyed Vidarbhaā€™s top order.

Tushar Deshpande and Tanush Kotian soon finished up Vidarbhaā€™s lower order, bringing the team from 353 for 5 to 364 for 9. Vidarbha had two well-established hitters Akshay Wadkar and Harsh Dubey, and a 130-run stand for the sixth wicket, which helped them survive.

Just as Tushar Deshpande was about to resume his spell, captain Ajinkya Rahane tossed the ball to Kulkarni, allowing the senior bowler to go for the decisive wicket in the major final in Mumbai. Kulkarni took the final wicket, securing Mumbaiā€™s 169-run victory, much to the pleasure of his teammates and the Wankhede Stadium crowd.
