Prithvi Shaw last played for India in a T20I against Sri Lanka in July, 2021.

Prithvi Shaw is currently not considered a top priority in the Indian cricket team. This became evident when he wasn't even selected for the Asian Games, where none of the players in contention for a World Cup spot were participating due to scheduling conflicts between the two tournaments. Prithvi Shaw showed a lot of promise when he became the youngest Indian to score a Test century on debut at the age of 18. However, his international career has not been as successful as many had hoped.

Around five years ago, Prithvi Shaw was highly anticipated as one of the most promising young cricketers on the rise. But his progress was hampered by injuries, disciplinary issues, and technical flaws, preventing him from getting a consistent opportunity to prove himself in any format.

Exclusion from T20I Team Without Explanation

Prithvi Shaw expressed that he is unaware of the reason behind his exclusion from the T20I team despite not being given a chance to play.

"When I was dropped [from the Indian team], I didn't get to know the reason," he told Cricbuzz and Wisden.

The primary reasons for his exclusion could be attributed to his underwhelming performance in IPL 2023. Shaw's struggles were evident as he managed to score only 106 runs in 8 matches.

Prithvi Shaw's disappointment at not being chosen for the West Indies T20Is

Shaw was visibly disappointed at not being chosen for the West Indies T20Is, but he emphasized that his fitness was not the reason behind his non-selection.

"Someone was saying it could be fitness. But of course, I came here [to Bengaluru] and cleared all the tests at the NCA, again scored runs and again came back to the T20 team. But again didn't get a chance in the West Indies. I'm disappointed but you just have to move forward. I can't do anything, I can't fight with anyone," he added.

The Impact of Social Media and Public Perception on Shaw's Personal Life.

In the past couple of years, Shaw's social media posts or stories have frequently made headlines. However, the right-handed opener revealed that he no longer has any close friends and has become apprehensive about expressing his thoughts openly.

"As a person, I just like to be in my own zone. People say a lot of things about me. But those who know me, know how I am. I don't have friends, I don't like to make friends. This is what's happening with this generation. You can't share your thoughts with anyone else. If you ask me personally, it's very scary. Darr lagta hai aajkal to share my thoughts. Agle din social media mein aa jaata hai (I'm scared to share my thoughts. Somehow all of it comes up on social media). I've very less friends, only a couple of friends, and even with them I don't share everything, only a few things," he added.
