Digvesh Rathi was re-signed by South Delhi Superstarz for DPL 2025.
On Sunday, July 6, Digvesh Rathi became one of the most expensive selections at the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 auction. Once it was established that the mystery spinner would return to the auction and that the teams were willing to pay him a substantial sum, it was anticipated that he would be among the top picks.
The DPL 2025 will now have eight clubs instead of just six for the 2025 season, according to the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA). The event now includes two new teams: the New Delhi Tigers and the Outer Delhi Warriors.
For a more competitive and exciting T20 league season, they will join the North Delhi Strikers, Central Delhi Kings, Purani Dilli, West Delhi Lions, East Delhi Riders, and South Delhi Superstarz.
Digvesh Rathi, who in the previous edition of the DPL had taken 14 wickets in 10 innings for South Delhi Superstars. One of the top players, Digvesh, had a base price of Rs 10 lakhs when he went into the auction. However, Digvesh Rathi re-signed with South Delhi Superstarz for a huge sum of Rs 38 lakhs.
Digvesh Rathi signs with Delhi SuperStarz again; gets paid more than his IPL salary

Purani Dilli were also considering signing him at one point. However, the winning bid for him came from South Delhi. If Digvesh had joined Purani Dilli, he would have played alongside his captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rishabh Pant.
Curiously, Digvesh will make more money in the DPL than the IPL. At the IPL 2025 mega-auction, he was signed by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for his base price of Rs 30 lakh. In the DPL, he will make 8 lakhs more than in the IPL.
Digvesh led the Lucknow Super Giants’ wicket-taking stats throughout his incredible IPL season. In 13 games, the 25-year-old took 14 wickets. During the season, he also received a one-match suspension. One of the main topics of conversation at IPL 2025 was Digvesh’s “signature” celebration.
A player rarely makes more money in a state T20 league than in the IPL. The only other instance was of Sai Sudharsan getting paid Rs 21.6 lakhs to join the TNPL team Lyca Kovai Kings in 2023. Compared to his 20 lakhs IPL salary from 2022 to 2024, it was 1.6 lakhs more.
