Dinesh Karthik names India’s squad for ICC Cricket World Cup 2027; surprisingly picks Bhuvneshwar Kumar

The preparations for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 have already started, even though the tournament is still more than a year away. The World Cup will return to Africa after 24 years, with South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia set to host the 50-over event.
The ICC has confirmed that the 2027 Cricket World Cup will feature a total of 57 matches. The tournament will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia for the first time in a very long time.
The tournament is expected to be played between October and November 2027 and will feature 14 teams, making it bigger than the previous two ODI World Cups that had only 10 participating nations.
However, there’s a tentative schedule from October 4 to November 21, 2027; we can expect some changes, but it’s gonna be somewhere around this window.

With ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 around the corner, Dinesh Karthik has picked his Indian squad for the tournament. He picked Shubman Gill as his captain for the 2027 ODI World Cup, and then named Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. There has been plenty of speculation about whether these two, two of the most experienced players, will continue until the 2027 World Cup.
However, Karthik feels their experience in ICC tournaments remain unavailable. Both players have delivered in pressure situations for India over the years and could still have an important role to play if they maintain their fitness and form.
Karthik has also trusted India’s experienced pace attack by selecting Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammad Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
In the spin department, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel have been picked to provide variety, while Hardik Pandya and Nitish Kumar Reddy strengthen the all-round options.
The batting unit includes a combination of aggression and stability with Shubman Gill, Rohit, Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan.
