Dream11 to pull out as Indian Cricket Team's principal sponsor ahead of Asia Cup 2025 - Reports

The BCCI will be inviting applications for the new sponsors of Indian Cricket Team soon, as per the reports.

The Indian Cricket Team has suffered a massive blow ahead of Asia Cup 2025. As per the reports in NDTV, it is learned that ‘Dream11’ has decided to pull out as the principal sponsors of national cricket team.

This comes after the Government of India passed the ‘Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025’ in the Parliament. As per the bill, gaming platforms like Dream11 can’t have cash-based contests nor promote it.

Although there is no official confirmation related to the same, it is learnt that Dream11 is not willing to continue its deal. The reports added that the fantasy sports platform will not be there even in the Asia Cup 2025, which begins on 9th September in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). 

The report also added that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be inviting applications for the new sponsors soon. If it is not finalised before the Asia Cup, then India will be playing the tournament without a lead sponsor. 

The Indian jerseys for Asia Cup 2025 with the ‘Dream11’ have already been printed, but they will no longer be used. The fantasy sports platform signed a deal with BCCI in 2023 worth ₹358 crore—₹3 crores per home game and ₹1 crore per away fixture. 

If it’s not permissible, we’ll not do anything – BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia on keeping Dream11 as sponsors

Recently, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia was asked about the same as well. However, he didn’t shy away from saying that the board will follow the laws of the country. 

“If it’s not permissible, we’ll not do anything. The BCCI will follow every policy of the country that is framed by the central government,” Saikia said. 

The Indian Cricket Team will open their campaign in Asia Cup 2025 on 10th September against the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Following that, they will lock horns with Pakistan on 14th September before playing Oman in their last league game on 19th September.
