Duleep Trophy 2026-27 is all set to start on August 23.
Duleep Trophy is India’s premier first-class competition on the domestic circuit. The inaugural edition was played in 1961–62, and 62 seasons have been successfully held so far. Central Zone won the last edition, defeating South Zone in the final.
They will defend their title in the upcoming season. The Duleep Trophy 2026-27 will mark the beginning of the Indian domestic season for the red-ball format. This tournament will feature some of the top cricketers in Indian cricket.
From test captain Shubman Gill to Ruturaj Gaikwad, Mohammed Shami, Ishan Kishan, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and Tilak Varma, all these big names will be part of the upcoming edition.

Duleep Trophy 2026-27: Format
The Duleep Trophy 2026-27 will kick off the Indian domestic red-ball season. Unlike the Ranji Trophy, the Duleep Trophy offers a traditional zonal competition. The tournament is run under the supervision of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
It is named after Kumar Shri Duleepsinhji, who represented England for 12 Tests between 1929 and 1931. This tournament features six teams representing their zones. The six participating teams are North Zone, South Zone, East Zone, West Zone, Central Zone, and North East Zone.
Duleep Trophy 2026-27: Full Schedule
As per the traditional format, the Duleep Trophy 2026-27 will feature five matches. Six teams will compete in this tournament to win the title. The current champion, Central Zone, and the last edition’s runner-up, South Zone, have prequalified for the semis.
Meanwhile, the other four teams will play two quarter-finals. The winner of both quarterfinals will advance to the semifinals. All these matches will be played at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) grounds 1 and 2, respectively.
