Dwayne Bravo will serve as a mentor for KKR as they aim to win the IPL 2026 with a new look squad.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team management faced media questions ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. KKR will open their campaign against the Mumbai Indians (MI) on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
KKR mentor Dwayne Bravo, head coach Abhishek Nayar, assistant coach Shane Watson, and captain Ajinkya Rahane were the ones who took the stage to face questions from the press.
Ahead of the IPL 2026, KKR has had pace-related setbacks. Pathirana’s availability is still unknown, and Harshit Rana has been ruled out. They have already had to let go of Mustafizur Rahman at the orders of BCCI.
Bravo voiced confidence in the bowling squad despite the failures, especially in the spin attack spearheaded by Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine.
“Yeah, I think in any tournament with any team, once you lose some of the key bowling options, these are not things you plan for, but these are things you have to accept. The good thing about Indian cricket, especially at the moment, is there’s a lot of depth.
There’re the likes of Umran Malik, Kartik Tyagi… These guys are also players who have played in the IPL before. They are young, exciting talents. So for me personally, I’m happy, along with Tim (Southee), to work with this group of fast bowlers.
We have the best spin duo in the entire competition. So from a bowling point of view, I think we will be fine. Also, don’t forget Vaibhav (Arora), who had a fantastic season last year. So yeah, we lost some key players, but I feel comfortable knowing that we have what it takes to replace those guys,” Bravo said.
However, something else gained quite an infamy on social media, and it involved Dwayne Bravo and Shane Watson, along with captain Ajinkya Rahane. The incident in question happened just before the KKR press conference was to begin, and videos of the same have gone viral on social media.
“I had two chicks at my home” – Dwayne Bravo tells Shane Watson before Ajinkya Rahane warns him about mics

Dwayne Bravo’s awkward moment, in which he can be heard on the microphone discussing his adventures back home, has become popular on social media. The footage of the incident has also gone viral.
Bravo engaged in a humorous conversation with his fellow coaches without realising that the microphones were already on. The West Indian said inadvertently that he had “two chicks” at home during the lighthearted exchange.
“When these guys called me, I had two chicks at my home,” Bravo said. He was talking to Watson while pointing his hand towards Nayar.
As soon as he finished speaking, Rahane answered. Bravo was reminded by the KKR captain that the microphones were on.
“Mics are on. Be careful about what you are talking about,” said Rahane.
Bravo was clearly embarrassed, but it’s clear that he would have continued if Rahane hadn’t alerted him that the microphones were on. He was then heard yelling, “Shit.” Everyone became more cautious after that.
