Dwayne Bravo trolls experts like Sanjay Manjrekar, Irfan Pathan after CSK qualify for IPL 2023 playoffs

Chennai Super Kings' bowling coach Dwayne Bravo takes social media to troll cricket pundits.

Dwayne Bravo, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowling coach took a dig at cricket experts like Sanjay Manjrekar, Irfan Pathan, and others, who had predicted that CSK won’t make it into the playoffs in the ongoing IPL 2023 at the start of the tournament.

CSK defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 77 runs in their last league game on Saturday, May 20 to become the second team after Gujarat Titans to secure a berth in the IPL 2023 playoffs.

Prior to the crucial encounter against DC, CSK had accumulated 15 points from 13 games and only needed to win to secure their playoff berth. Dhoni and company put on an outstanding all-around performance to win and place second in the IPL 2023 points standings.

CSK used outstanding half-centuries from Ruturaj Gaikwad (79) and Devon Conway (87) to put up a massive 223/3 runs before their spinners easily held DC to a modest 146/9 in 20 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja and Matheesha Pathirana took important wickets in the middle overs after pacers Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande provided the side a strong start with the ball in the Powerplay.

Maheesh Theekshana too picked up a couple of wickets towards the end as DC fell short by 77 runs despite an excellent knock of 86 runs from skipper David Warner.

As CSK reached the playoffs for a record-extending 12th time, Bravo took to Instagram to share a screenshot of the predictions made by experts like Tom Moody, Sanjay Manjrekar, Irfan Pathan, Jacques Kallis, and Aaron Finch among others, none of whom had backed the team to make it to the knockout stages.

Taking a dig at them over their predictions, Bravo didn’t hold back as he wrote – “I guess these predictions were made on April Fools Day”. “@chennaiipl 12 times playoffs, 9times in finals..4 trophies #Respect.”

The Chennai Super Kings are one of the most successful teams in IPL history, having reached the playoffs an incredible 12 times in just the 14 seasons they have competed in the league. They are the only team to have participated in nine title games and have missed the playoffs just twice. The only team with more IPL titles than CSK (4) is Mumbai Indians, who have five.
