East Zone won their third Duleep Trophy title in 2026 under Ishan Kishan’s leadership.
East Zone finally ended their long wait for Duleep Trophy glory as they set their hands on the prestigious domestic title at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in 2026. Led by skipper Ishan Kishan from the front, the team produced a commanding performance against South Zone in the final to complete a memorable campaign.
The final match against South Zone ended in a draw, but East Zone were crowned champions by virtue of their massive first-innings lead, as per the rules of the BCCI. Having posted a massive 708 in their first innings, they bowled South Zone out for just 336, taking a substantial 372-run lead.
While East Zone won their third Duleep Trophy title, ending a 13-year-long drought, Kishan was at the heart of the victory with the knock that will be enlisted as one of the greatest knocks ever in the history of Indian domestic cricket. The captain scored 270 in the first innings and followed it with an 80 in the second. He was subsequently named the Player of the Match.

Following the title triumph, celebrations broke out among the East Zone players, with a video shared on social media showing the captain Ishan Kishan celebrating with fellow teammates and other staff in the East Zone management.
The celebrations provided a fitting conclusion to a tournament in which East Zone had overcome Central Zone in the semi-final before producing an emphatic display against South Zone in the title clash.
The Duleep Trophy was particularly significant for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the youngster who played an important role in East Zone’s run to the final. His innings against Central Zone in the two innings of the semi-final helped East Zone maintain their clutch on the game.
Ishan Kishan received the Duleep Trophy and walked gracefully towards his East Zone teammates and then handed it over to Mukesh Kumar, who held it high as the team posed for the pictures. Soon, youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the vice-captain of the side, was also seen embracing the trophy.
