Chopra named seven Indian players and four England players in his combined playing XI. He went ahead with Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul as openers of the side. Jaiswal commenced the series with a century in the opening game and also smacked a crucial ton in the fifth test. With 532 runs, Rahul was the second highest run-scorer for India in the series.
Joe Root, who was the highest run-scorer for England in the series with 537 runs, was chosen at No. 3. Shubman Gill, who finished as the highest run-scorer in the series with 754 runs, took the number four spot. Rishabh Pant was picked as the wicket-keeper, while Harry Brook was added in the middle-order.
England skipper Ben Stokes, who won Player of the Match awards in the third and fourth tests, found a place as an all-rounder in Chopra’s team. Ravindra Jadeja, who slammed five fifties and one century during the series, was another all-rounder in the side. In the pace department, Chopra inducted Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Josh Tongue.

Aakash Chopra picks Ravindra Jadeja over Washington Sundar

The former India opener noted that he chose Jadeja over Washington Sundar as the former gave a consistent performance with the bat. He also added that Gill was a crucial member of the team after finishing as the highest scorer in the series.
“I was thinking about Washington Sundar also here, but I will have Ravindra Jadeja here, Jaddu has scored runs consistently. Of course, he hasn’t taken too many wickets. He got fewer opportunities to take wickets as well, and spin hasn’t done that well,” he said.
“Just like this team can’t be made without Joe Root, it can’t be made without Gill either. He has scored more than 750 runs. He is the highest run-scorer of the series, and by a considerable margin,” he added.
Meanwhile, the five-match test series between England and India ended in a 2-2 draw following a brilliant comeback by Shubman Gill & Co. in the fifth test at The Oval. India crushed England by six runs in The Oval test to script a record for their victory by the lowest margin of runs. Gill and Brook were adjudged as Player of the Series.
