On Monday, July 14, England Cricket Team completed a brilliant win over Indian Cricket Team by 22 runs in third test of the five-match at the Lord’s. Defending a 193-run target, England bundled out India for 170 runs in the second innings to win the encounter.

Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes hunted three wickets each to dominate the visitors in the second innings. Ravindra Jadeja scored an unbeaten 61 runs to keep the winning hopes alive till the end. However, England eventually outplayed India in the encounter to gain a 2-1 lead in the series.

Notably, England have registered their 10th smallest victory in test cricket by winning the Lord’s test by just 22 runs. England’s smallest win margin in test cricket is two runs, which they registered against Australia in Ashes 2005 in Birmingham.

They also crushed Australia by three runs in a test match in Melbourne in 1982. England captured a victory against Australia by just 10 runs in Sydney in 1894. Notably, England’s nine out of ten smallest victories in test cricket have come against Australia.

Meanwhile, Ben Stokes was awarded Player of the Match in the Lord’s test. Opting to bat first, England piled up 387/10 in the first innings with a century by Joe Root. The hosts also then scored an identical total in the first innings on the back of KL Rahul’s hundred.

In the second innings, Washington Sundar helped India bowl out England for 192 runs with his four-wickets haul. However, Indian batters completely struggled during the 193-run chase.

With the victory in the Lord’s test, England lead the five-match series 2-1. Earlier, they won the first test by five wickets before losing the second test at Birmingham by 336 runs. The fourth test will commence on July 23 at Old Trafford, Manchester.
