ENG vs IND: England announce squad for ODI series against India; Harry Brook named captain

India will play three ODIs against England from July 14.
India are currently on a tour of England (ENG vs IND) for a comprehensive white-ball series, comprising five T20Is and three ODIs. The ODI matches will begin on July 14.
The ODI fixtures are scheduled for July 14, 16 and 19, in Birmingham, Cardiff and London, respectively. The teams will wrap up the T20I series on July 11 and begin their 50-over preparations shortly after.
Shubman Gill and Co. last played an ODI series against Afghanistan, where they won all three matches. India had fielded three debutants in the series, Harsh Dubey, Prince Yadav and Gurnoor Brar, who made their mark in the format. Gill was the Player of the Series.
India had announced their squad for the England series after ODIs against Afghanistan. Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah are set to return to the team, while the breakout performer of the Afghanistan series, Gurnoor Brar, also secured a spot in the team.
On the other hand, England have announced their squad for the ODI series against India on July 3. Harry Brook continues as England’s skipper, while there are some changes made to the squad from their previous series.

Harry Brook (C), Jos Buttler, Saqib Mahmood, Rehan Ahmed, James Coles, Adil Rashid, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Joe Root, Gus Atkinson, Liam Dawson, Josh Tongue, Tom Banton, Ben Duckett, Jacob Bethell, Will Jacks.
England had a similar squad for the series against Sri Lanka; except for Saqib, Coles and Atkinson have replaced Jamie Overton, Brydon Carse and Luke Wood for the series against India.
England last played an ODI series in January. It was against Sri Lanka, and England won the contest 2-1. Joe Root was the highest scorer of the series, amassing 247 runs, and being the Player of the Series. Meanwhile, Adil Rashid claimed 7 wickets in the three matches.
England had lost the first encounter of the series, but bounced back strongly, winning the remaining two clashes by 5 wickets and 53 runs, respectively.
Both India and England will kickstart their preparations for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2027. They will experiment with newer players, prepare backups, and sustain their core.
