Shubman Gill has scored most runs in the ongoing ENG vs IND test series.

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has heaped praise on Shubman Gill for his heroics with the bat in the ongoing test series between England and India. Gill is the leading run-scorer in the ongoing series with 743 runs in nine innings.

At an average of 82.56, Gill has hammered four centuries in the series. Gill also had slammed twin tons in the second test of the series at Edgbaston, where he broke plenty of records.

In the ongoing fifth test at The Oval in London, Gill broke Sunil Gavaskar’s record for scoring most runs in a test series by an Indian skipper. He is also en route to break Gavaskar’s record for most runs by an Indian batsman in a test series (774).

While speaking during an event, former Indian cricketer Ganguly said that Gill has been outstanding in the ongoing series. He is also impressed with the quality of cricket shown by Indian players in England.

“Shubman Gill has been outstanding. If you give people the responsibility, you will get them to deliver as well. He has batted outstandingly in the series. For Indian cricket, the quality has been fantastic right throughout (generations), and it makes me feel really proud,” he was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Meanwhile, Gill got out cheaply for 21 runs in first innings of the fifth test at The Oval after bagging an unlucky run-out. Earlier in the game, England skipper Ollie Pope won the toss and opted to bowl first in the encounter. Day 1 was affected by rain and was interrupted multiple times.

On a green track, India have struggled to score runs freely, losing six wickets under 200 runs. They have made four changes to their XI with Dhruv Jurel, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, and Karun Nair getting chances.

England lead the series 2-1. They have also made four changes in their team. Jacob Bethell, Gus Atkinson, Jamie Overton, and Josh Tongue have been inducted into the playing XI for the final clash.
