ENG vs IND: Good News for England; Star pacer joins T20I squad ahead of 2nd encounter

The upcoming T20I matches are scheduled for July 4, 7, 9 and 11, in Manchester, Nottingham, Bristol, and Southampton, respectively. The opening clash was abandoned due to rain after the first innings. The Men in Blue had opted to bat first, and they posted 189 on the board in 20 overs.
Thanks to the quickfire half-century from Abhishek Sharma (59 off 24), the steady innings of Shreyas Iyer (68 off 47) and the scintillating finish of Shivam Dube (42* off 21), India did not crumble after two early wickets.
Saqib Mahmood and Sam Curran bowled economically, claiming 3 and 1 wickets respectively, and troubled India. England have now received a major boost ahead of the second T20I.
Jofra Archer joins the England squad
The England cricket team played a three-match Test series against New Zealand, which concluded just two days before the Indian assignment. They lost that series 2-1, and some players from the Test squad were also part of the T20I squad.
Five players from the England squad for the third Test are also part of the T20I series. Jacob Bethell and Harry Brook played the series decider and joined the T20 troop shortly after.
As reported by Revsportz, Jofra Archer has also joined the squad ahead of the 2nd ENG vs IND T20I, and was seen practising with the team.
Archer was named Player of the Series in the Test series between England and New Zealand. He picked 5 wickets in the 2nd Test, and 6 in the 3rd. He also chipped in with 25 runs in the series.
His Rajasthan Royals (RR) teammate Vaibhav Sooryavanshi could make his maiden international appearance in the 2nd T20I. Moreover, Jofra has a good record against Indian batsmen like Sanju Samson and Shreyas Iyer. He has picked 15 wickets against India in T20Is.
Additionally, Archer has been in red-hot form in T20 cricket. He claimed 11 wickets in the T20 World Cup 2026 and 25 in the IPL 2026, with a staggering strike rate of 14 and an economy of 9.
