ENG vs IND: Head-to-head record in T20I

The first-ever ENG vs IND T20I took place in September 2007.

India and England are amongst the two dominant teams in T20I cricket with multiple World Cup titles under their belt. While the Men in Blue won the T20 World Cup in the 2007, 2024, and 2026 editions, England were the winners in 2010 and 2022.

The T20I rivalry between both sides dates back to 2007, when India and England clashed for the first time in the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup. The MS Dhoni & Co. outplayed England by 18 runs in the clash, which is still remembered as one of the most exciting moments in Indian cricket’s history due to Yuvraj Singh’s six sixes against Stuart Broad.

This year, their first clash came in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, in which India outplayed England in the semi-final at Wankhede Stadium in a close-fought match. While India won the title after crushing New Zealand in the final, England impressed with their strong form in the Super Eight Round, winning three games in a row.

Earlier this year, in January, England clashed with Sri Lanka in a T20I series. In the away campaign, England completed a clean sweep (3-0). The T20I series was a preparation for them ahead of their World Cup campaign, in which Sri Lanka were a co-host alongside India.

Speaking about India, they have played two bilateral T20I series in 2026. The first one was against New Zealand ahead of the World Cup. In the five-match series at home in January, Suryakumar Yadav & Co. clinched a magnificent 4-1 victory.

In June, India faced a big setback against Ireland in Shreyas Iyer’s first assignment as T20I captain, losing a two-match series 2-0.

Since 2007, India and England have clashed in 34 T20I matches. India have won 18 while England have won 15. One game ended with no result. Hence, India have a better record against England in the shortest format.

While playing in England, India have won five games and lost seven out of 13 matches (1 No Result). Hence, England dominate while playing at home. In India, the Men in Blue have bagged 11 victories out of 17 encounters.
