On Tuesday, July 7, India delivered their worst-ever performance in the shortest format in the third T20I against England. The encounter took place in Nottingham, where India faced their biggest defeat by the margin of runs.
Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to field first; however, Indian bowlers failed to restrict England batters from going big. Philip Salt (70) slammed a half-century to provide a brilliant start, while Jos Buttler added 36 runs to set an opening stand of 43 runs.
Sam Curran smashed an unbeaten 41 runs to provide firepower in the death overs, taking the scoreboard to 201/7.
In the chase, India completely succumbed to the pressure and suffered a humiliating batting collapse. Within five overs, they lost five wickets with 52 runs on the board. Even the rest of the batters could not make a comeback in the latter half, as India were bowled out for just 76 runs in 11.4 overs.
Jofra Archer dismantled Indian batters with his three-wicket haul and was adjudged Player of the Match. England won the clash by 125 runs to gain a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.
