England Cricket Team completed a magical whitewash over Indian Cricket Team in the five-match T20I series after their win in the last game. The Harry Brook-led side beat the opposition by 56 runs at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on Saturday.
Indian skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bowl first in the encounter. England lost opener Phil Salt (6) cheaply, but Jos Buttler and Harry Brook took the game away from India with their brutal batting. While Butter (131) scored a sensational century, Harry Brook added unbeaten 95 runs. The duo put on 233 runs together as the hosts posted a mammoth 257/3 on the scoreboard.
Opener Sanju Samson, who replaced Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the XI, scored 27 runs. However, he and Abhishek Sharma (3) could only add 25 runs in 2.3 overs as India failed to get a good start.
Ishan Kishan (56) and Tilak Varma (53) slammed half-centuries to keep India in the hunt. However, England got wickets at regular intervals and by the 16th over, India had lost five batsmen.
In the end, the visitors managed 201/8, losing by a big margin of 56 runs. With the victory, England won the five-match series 4-0 and showcased their dominance against the T20 World Cup champions. Butter was awarded Player of the Match, while Brook was adjudged Player of the Series.
