The first ENG vs SL test will start on August 21, Wednesday, in Manchester.
The England cricket team are all set to lock horns against Sri Lanka for the first test of the three-match test series. The opening fixture will be played at the Old Trafford in Manchester from August 21. The test series is part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle.
The English side outclassed the West Indies 3-0 in the recently concluded test series at home. The Three Lions will be looking to continue their dominating run against Sri Lanka in this series.
Before the start of the Sri Lanka series, England’s test captain Ben Stokes suffered a hamstring injury during the Men’s Hundred tournament, which ruled him out of the rest of the English summer. The England and Wales Cricket Board named Ollie Pope as the stand-in skipper in the absence of Stokes for the Sri Lanka tests.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka are heading into the test series after defeating the Indian cricket team in the three-match ODI series 2-0. They will be looking to put up a strong show against England, which will keep their hopes alive of reaching the WTC 2023-25 final.
