England lead the five-match tests series 2-1.
England have announced their playing XI for the fourth test against India in the ongoing five-match series. The penultimate test will be played at the Old Trafford ground in Manchester and will begin on July 23 onwards. England lead the series 2-1 with wins in Leeds and at Lord’s, while India won the Edgbaston test.
Under-fire despite the harsh criticism from the former players, Zak Crawley, who hasn’t had much of an influence this series, has been able to hold onto his spot once more. Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, and Jofra Archer were the hosts’ speed attack from the previous game and will continue in the next game as well.
Joe Root, Ollie Pope, Ben Stokes, and Harry Brook, along with Jamie Smith, retained their places in the England XI for the fourth test.
Liam Dawson replaces Shoaib Bashir, returns to the England test team after eight years

Liam Dawson has been added to the England’s playing XI for the Manchester test, replacing spinner Shoaib Bashir.
Due to a hand injury, Shoaib Bashir, who broke the hearts of billions of Indians by dismissing Mohammed Siraj to ensure the Three Lions won the Lord’s test, will not play in the fourth or fifth test matches.
In July 2017, Dawson made his third and last appearance in the longest format of the game, playing against South Africa. After almost seven years away from the international scene, Dawson’s recall follows a string of strong county cricket performances in which he made an impression with both bat and ball.
“England Men have made one change to their XI for the Rothesay Fourth Test against India at Emirates Old Trafford, starting on Wednesday, July 23. Hampshire spinner Liam Dawson replaces the injured Shoaib Bashir. This will be Dawson’s first Test appearance since July 2017,” the ECB said in an official statement.
