England will be captained by Ben Stokes in the Ashes 2025-26.

The England Cricket Team have announced their squad for the upcoming Ashes 2025-26 series against the Australian Cricket Team. The much-anticipated series between the teams will be played from 21st November to 8th January down under.

England will be captained by Ben Stokes in the Ashes 2025, while the main highlight of the squad was Harry Brook being named as the vice-captain. Ollie Pope was sacked as the deputy of Stokes and it came as a surprise as he was the vice-captain in the last series against India and also captained the team in last test in the absence of Stokes.

Fast bowler Mark Wood, who missed the tests against India, is also back in the side. This will be a massive boost for the side as his pace and experience will be extremely important for England as they eye their first Ashes win down under in a while.

Also returning to the England test side are seamer Matthew Potts and batting all-rounder Will Jacks. While the fast bowler last featured in December 2024 against New Zealand, Jacks made his debut for England in tests in December 2022 against Pakistan.

Spinner Shoaib Bashir will also be making his return following injury. He missed the last few games of the series against India due to a finger injury. Skipper Ben Stokes is also recovering from the shoulder injury, which he sustained against India ahead of the last test, and is expected to be fit for the Ashes 2025-26.
