England defeated South Africa by a massive margin of 342 runs in the third ODI of the series.
The England Cricket Team achieved a massive feat in the history of international cricket. The Harry Brook-led side registered the biggest ever victory in the ODIs, surpassing India’s 317-run victory over Sri Lanka in 2023.
England achieved the feat during the game against South Africa on Sunday (7th September). The dead rubber third ODI between the teams took place at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.
England, who suffered a disappointing loss in the first two games against South Africa, made a solid comeback in the last ODI and dominated the entire game. Asked to bat first, they came up with a dominating brand of cricket, piling up a massive total of 414 runs on the board.
Openers in Jamie Smith (62) and Ben Duckett (31) hammered 59 runs for the opening partnership. However, Joe Root (100) and Jacob Bethell (110) slammed brutal centuries to put South Africa under pressure. In the end, Jos Buttler (62*) slammed a quick-fire fifty to take the team’s total to a massive 414.

With the ball, Jofra Archer then breathed fire and made a mockery of the South Africa batters. He picked four wickets in a flash, while Adil Rashid and Brydon Carse combined to pick five wickets, and England bundled out the Proteas for just 72 runs inside 21 overs to win the game.
England registered a massive win of 342 runs, which is the biggest in the history of ODI cricket. They surpass India’s win and now sit at the top of the list.
