England have won the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in 1973, 1993, 2009, and 2017.

The 15-member England Women’s team has been selected by the selectors to compete in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in India. The competition, which takes place from September 30 to November 2, will mark the first ICC tournament that both head coach Charlotte Edwards and captain Nat Sciver-Brunt will oversee.

After missing the last few months owing to a tendon injury in her right hamstring, former captain Heather Knight is back in the squad.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Sarah Glenn, who missed the series against India earlier this summer, are also returning to England’s ODI team.

Glenn is one of six players and four specialist spinners scheduled to play in their first ICC ODI World Cup as part of a formidable spin contingent captained by Sophie Ecclestone, the top women’s ODI bowler.

“It will be a huge challenge.”- Head Coach Charlotte Edwards

As England looks to repeat its heroics from 2017, Tammy Beaumont, Sophia Dunkley, Amy Jones, Charlie Dean, and Linsey Smith, who are regulars in the squad, keep their spots.

Head coach Charlotte Edwards said she was thrilled to see the squad announced, emphasizing the difficulty of competing in India as well as the honor of representing the nation in a World Cup.

Being selected to play for your country in a World Cup is one of the biggest honors in sport, and I’m delighted for all the players named in the squad. Like all global tournaments, it will be a huge challenge, but we want to go as far as we possibly can in India, and I believe that if we play our best cricket, we can compete with anyone,” Edwards told ECB.

Conditions mean we have gone for the extra spinner, and we’re lucky to be able to have such depth in this department. It’s fantastic to welcome Sarah Glenn back. That does mean there’s no room for Kate Cross, Maia Bouchier, or Alice Davidson-Richards, which will be disappointing for them.

It’s also great to have Danni back in the squad; she’s been in good form in domestic cricket, and she’ll bring dynamism and depth to our batting, alongside Heather, who we are absolutely delighted to be able to select. She’ll be a huge asset for us,” the head coach stated.

Following their victories in 1973, 1993, 2009, and 2017, the four-time ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup champions will be hoping to add another trophy to their collection.

On October 3, England will play South Africa in Bengaluru to begin their campaign.
