Eoin Morgan captained England to their first ever ODI World Cup win in 2019.

Nobody would have expected defending champions England to be languishing at the bottom of the points table, below Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. England after suffering back-to-back defeats in the World Cup 2023 have been knocked out from the mega event. England management is facing severe criticism as well as questioning from fans and media back home due to poor show as a unit in the big tournament.

England’s current head coach Mathew Mott’s job is also in danger after England’s consecutive losses. There were a few reports of former English skipper and World Cup 2019 champion Eoin Morgan replacing Mathew Mott as England’s head coach. Mott has been facing a lot of questions from the media regarding his strategies and plans during the mega event. Now, Eoin Morgan has denied the reports of him joining the English camp again.

Eoin Morgan refutes the rumours

Former English skipper Eoin Morgan said that he is happy with the role he currently has outside England’s dressing room. Morgan said, “It is a bit far-fetched but everyone is entitled to interpret my comments… No one in the changing room, captain or coach or any of the players can explain the situation they find themselves in.But I am very happy and cemented, hopefully, in what I am going to do in the future.” Morgan led England to World Cup win in 2019.

Eoin Morgan said currently he gets time to be with his family and is enjoying the role as broadcaster. Morgan added, “I spend a lot of time home now with my young family which is great and I love watching it.” Morgan also said that Mathew Mott is currently going through the biggest challenge of his England coaching career at the moment. He added, “They are double World Champions for a reason, they are not a bad team at all.”

England will be playing against Australia in their next league encounter at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium on 4th November. After this, they will be left with two more games in the tournament, one against the Netherlands and another against Pakistan. England have managed to defeat only Bangladesh in the ongoing tournament and have lost all of their remaining five league games they have so far. Afghanistan defeated England by 69 runs in Delhi.
